The Birthing Story

It was a normal day for us. It was Wednesday March 25 and Simon got up to go to the dentist and workout while Mal kept doing what she had been doing best and that is laying in bed brewing some babies. Simon returned late after a day of running some errands to room 678 with a handsome treat... El Vaquero!!!!!

After Mal had devoured her Taco Salad (with extra salsa) we kicked backed and put on the T.V. Simon had to catch up on his Simpsons and then it all began....

It was around 10 pm when Mal said she wanted to get into the shower because she was feeling "light" contractions and her back was hurting her. She went into the shower and Simon sprayed warm water on Mals back hoping that the water would alleviate some pain. No such luck. So Mal called the nurse and the nurse hooked Mal up to the monitor to measure the contractions. Simon was getting upset with Mal because he thought she was just stressed from being in the bed for so long and that she had just eaten El Vaquero... he just kept saying "BREATH!!! BREATH!!! BREATH!!"... "it's all in your head"....."just relax, you need to relax"... then Simon watched the monitor go from a 12 to a 60 and started to believe that Mal was contracting.

Now it was 11:30 pm and Mal was getting worse. The nurse came in and gave Mal an IV solution hoping to stop the frequency of the contractions. NOTHING.... The babies were coming and there was nothing that was going to stop them.

Then the big one hit and it was go time. The doctors rushed in and checked Mals cervix and determined she was 3 cm dialated. The doctor said "she is going to deliver within 30 min!"... Now where is Simon the whole time? He was in the corner of the room in complete denial, which then turned into complete panic. Mal was rushed down the hallway into the O.R. where about 30 doctors and nurses were expecting us. Simon was given scrubs that were 2 sizes too small and had to wait out in the hallway until they called him in. Finally Simon got to go into the room and sit next to Mal. The Doctor asked Simon if he wanted to see the head crown and Simon took one look and sat right back down.. (it was just like the movie Knocked Up). It was not a second later at 12:14 am, Mal pushed 3 times and out popped a BOY!!! "a BOY?" we both yelled together (since we were convinced that we were having two girls) and Simon got to see little Brynn Joseph (weighed 1 pound 7 ounces and was 11.75 inches long) rushed over to the NICU bed and get set up for his transfer over to the NICU. Little Brynn opened his eyes and looked right at Simon... "it was the most incredible thing I have ever see in my life". Then it was the other twins turn. The Doctors had game-planned to keep the other baby in utero if Brynn was born early. They took one look and the other twin was making her way out. The doc said that Mal need a C-section and asked Simon to leave the room. So Simon left the room and went down the hallway to meet up with Garth, Darlene, and Liv who had all driven down for the event. About an hour later one of the doctors came out and told Simon that the baby was fine and was being transferred down to the NICU to be with her brother, and that Mal was just getting fixed up and she was going to be in the recovery room soon. At 1:09 am Mia Elise (weighed 2 pounds 6 ounces and was 14 inches long) was born.

Mal was all taken to the recovery room where we all got to see her and congratulate her. After that Simon was told he could go down to the NICU and see the kids. He came back with awesome pictures and tears in his eyes. The night finally wound down when we took Mal back to the room where this journey began... room 678! and went to bed at 5:00 am.

Since then we have moved out of the hospital and into Hamish and Marion's house and the babes are right next to each other in the NICU. Please continue to pray for the health of our little babies Brynn and Mia. We have a long road ahead of us and we just want to thank everyone for their support!!

Also we would love to share our love with the doctors and nurses that took care of us during this experience. You guys did a phenomenal job!!!

We will be updating as often as we can with pictures and stories and please continue those prayers!!

Love THE FRASERS!!!

25 weeks and counting

We have reached 25 weeks and the doctors are excited with how Mal and the babies are progressing. This past Thursday we had another ultra-sound and we finally got a profile picture of our little miracle!! (To be posted soon) Along with that we found out that our girl is weighing a whopping 1 pound 12 ounces and our little miracle is topping the scales at 1 pound. The doctors also found a pocket of fluid around the little baby's head which is a positive and along with that the other night while having the heart tones checked we heard the little baby hiccup which is a sign that the baby is drinking some fluid. Let's keep those prayers going!!!

We have made ourselves at home here and are becoming the most popular people on the 6th floor in Doan Hall....

There is no question that Simon will not miss an
episode of The Simpsons!!

So focused on The Simpsons... Everyday at 5:30
and 6:00

There is also no question that Mal will not miss
an opportunity to eat Taco Bell.

Umm.... Bean Burrito... extra mild sauce.

Who wants belly pictures???
(we know the Hartsock family does!!!)

Doesn't look like I am Pregnant

BUT I AM!!!!

Mal is getting bigger by the day.

HUGE!!!!

Two weeks ago Simon received a call from the NFL drug testing department notifying him that he was due for a random sample. So Simon set it up for the following day at 2:30. Simon went in for his normal workout that morning and came back at around 1:30, Simon loves to drink water and by loves he drinks about a gallon and some change a day (we know this because Simon carries a gallon jug around with him everywhere). When Simon came back there was only 1/3 water left in the jug but he didn't think anything about it. So up comes the "Pee-guy" to administer the test. Simon goes right in and brings out the sample.... )along with that Mal and the girls got to witness the circus the NFL calls Random Drug testing... Simon had to take off his shirt and drop pants and pee in front of the administrator, talk about stage fright!!!) Once the sample was in the "pee-guys" hands he went to make sure it had the right properties (i.e. pH levels and density) but because of Simon's crazy way of keeping hydrated the "Pee-guy" said that the sample was too diluted and he had to give another one... well Simon was ready to give one about 20 minutes later but had the same result... now we were worried because the "Pee-guy" can't leave without a legit sample. Simon was given instruction of no more water and he must eat something. So Simon started munching Doritos, Fiber bars, Goldfish, and anything he could get his hands on... but because he couldn't drink anymore water he now could not pee, so he found some sprite and drank 2 cans of sprite, then vitamin water, then lemonade.... still unable to pee he took to the final solution....

running warm water over his hands...

and finally he could go. He called in the "Pee-guy" at 6:30 to give it his best shot. The "Pee-guy" tested the levels and Simon had done it!!! He conquered the pee test and could hit the Old Bag for some much need beers!!! And we are sure the "Pee-guy" didn't anticipate spending his day at the hospital.

The other day Simon came home from a jog and started the shower... not thinking Simon closed the door and came out to talk to Darlene, Liv and Chelsea for a good amount of time. Simon then went into the bathroom to find a nice steaming shower waiting for him, leaving the door open he grabbed his cloths and a towel and proceeded to enter the shower. Not a minute later did the nurse rush into the room... she asked if everything was OK and not knowing what was going on Mal asked why the nurse rushed into the room, the nurse said that the fire alarm for this room went off and the fire department was on their way. Because Simon felt the need to have a steamy shower and not thinking when he left the door open, the steam from the shower set off the fire alarm. Police and fire were here in no time and were all laughing about the situation. Now Mal is worried about the bill we are going to get from the fire department!!!

Report: Mallory Used Steroids

Mallory Fraser a Dublin Ohio native has been accused of taking baby enhancement drugs. A source close to the situation has confirmed that on Sunday March 8 2009 Fraser took a cycle of steroids. A representative released a statement saying, "...I admit to taking baby enhancers, we are doing this to help our babies develop and we are under great supervision of our doctors. They just come in and inject me.... I am not a cheater and I am insulted that I am being seen in the same light as those baseball players." We have not had a response from the doctors office in response to those allegations.
