The Family Is Whole At Last!!

After 140 days in the NICU Brynn is finally home and our family is complete. We were shocked when the doctors told us that he would be able to come home. We thought for sure he was not going to come home until September sometime. But the doctors said that because we live so close and that we are somewhat intelligent (compared to some of the other NICU families they see) we would be able to care for him at home. So Brynn is now home on a liter and a half of oxygen, a monitor, two inhalers, and some other drugs but who cares he is HOME!!! Brynn is now in weekly doctors visits and we have in-home care to help if we need it. We also have tons of help from Mals Mom and Sisters which has made Mals adjustment a lot easier. We have tons of portable oxygen tanks and one big center unit that isolates the oxygen in room air and delivers it to Brynn. He has a 50 foot cord which allows him to go all over the house.

The trip home was in typical Fraser fashion... we went into the hospital at 3:30 to pick up the big man and had to meet up with different people before we could check out. By 6:30 we were ready to take off... but then it all started... we turned on Brynn's monitor and hooked him up to it and was getting him into his car seat when the monitor malfunctioned and turned off and wouldn't turn back on.. because we didn't have a functioning monitor the hospital couldn't let us go home... Simon was immediately on the phone with the company demanding that someone comes to the hospital to deliver a new monitor. By the fifth phone call someone was on their way and at 10:30 we are locked and loaded and on our way home!

Mia was excited to see her "little Big brother" and Brynn forgot how big his "big Little sister" was. Now we are getting re-adjusted to having both kids home and now we really don't know what sleep is like!! We joke around a lot about how we don't have much time now that they both are home but we couldn't be more blessed with how amazing these babies are and how well behaved they are... the only time that they are fussy is when it is eating time (EVERY 3 Hours) but at night Mia only gets up once and because Brynn is on a continuous pump over night he rarely wakes up. We are so grateful for these two little blessing and we have traveled a long hard road but it is great to be where we are today knowing that these two miracles are home safely.

Thanks for all of your prayers and support!

This is our mornings.... Around 6 am after Brynn

It is the best feeling in the world to have them with

Growing and Growing

It has been a busy couple off weeks since we last updated the blog! Brynn got a G-Tube on Monday. A G-Tube is a feeding tube that is surgically placed into the abdomen wall. This is much better for Brynn because he no longer has a feeding tube in the back of his throat.. that was making gag! This will also allow him to come home sooner. Brynn then got his casts off on Wednesday and was put in shoes with a bar in between them. To make him feel better we call them his "magic shoes" a term we stole from the movie Forest Gump. The Ortho docs said they are happy with Brynns progress and we are going in the right direction. We have been talking with the his Docs and they said that Brynn in on the verge of coming home, hopefully by the end of August. Brynn now weighs almost 8 pounds (rough guess because his magic shoes throw off his true weight).
We have gotten more comfortable taking Mia in to see her big brother and it has been so much fun having the two of them in the same crib interacting with each other. Mia is doing very well, she has gotten in a great routine and is slowly but surely taking over the house... what Mia wants Mia gets!! She is over 9 pounds and it seems like everyday she is getting bigger. She is starting to gain more head control which makes it fun for us to play with her.
We are getting ready to move back into our condo at the end of next week and we are excited about the start of our new chapter!!
