Brynn and Mia's 1st Christmas and New Years

Our family had a wonderful Christmas. We had Christmas Eve with Simon's family and had lots of fun and ate yummy fondue. We then spent Christmas morning with just the 4 of us.. well I should say the 5 of us... including Monty, and then the rest of Christmas day with my family. This was the first Christmas that Simon and I have spent together not living in a rental, so it was extremely special for us to start our family traditions in our own home with our family. Simon even convinced me to buy a real tree.. something that was off limits when we were living in apartments! The twins got a ton of new toys... so many that we had to take down our table and lay down foam tiles for the kiddos to make them a play area! So.. if you know anyone looking for a 2 bedroom condo.. please send them our way, because this place is closing in on us really fast :)

We also had a great New Years. Simon and I were just planning on hanging out with the twins, watching a movie and being in bed before the ball dropped.. I guess this is something that happens with you have kids?! But Simon's parents showed up at our house 2 days before New Years with a gift certificate and told us we had dinner reservations at 8 o'clock and they were babysitting. Such a wonderful surprise. We had a yummy dinner, then stopped by to see some friends, then made it home right before midnight to ring in the new year with Marion and Hamish. We had such a fun night!

Brynn is doing great! He is 16.5 lbs!! He is getting more and more strength and personality as the days go on. He is now kicking his legs and moving his arms all the time. When we say "Brynn, go crazy".. he goes crazy!! He is also splashing in the tub, which is so much fun to watch. Brynn has finally discovered how to put things in his mouth.. so he now chews and sucks on his toys without gaging.. at least most of the time! He is even going into the jumper without a blanket around him to hold him up.. this is something new that just happened today! The only problem we are having with Brynn is.. after he got sick about 5 weeks ago, he hasn't wanted to take a bottle. Thank goodness for his feeding tube, but he is drinking a little more everyday and has even taken a few tastes of pears, apples, bananas, peas and sweet potatoes. Other then that he is spending more time on his tummy and hopefully will start rolling over sometime in the near future.

Mia is doing great as well. She weighs 19.5 lbs! She is also developing more personality as the days go on. She is talking more and has started having temper tantrums... and whatever Brynn has she HAS to have, and she isn't afraid to grab it right out of his hands! I am praying this is only a phase.. God, I know I wasn't bad at this young of an age :) Mia loves jumping like an animal in her jumper and she is also holding her own bottle now.. which is a good thing, but a little sad for me! I will say, "Mia, can mama hold the bottle for you"? and she looks at me like.. no way lady!! She also has her 2 bottom teeth poking through... my goodness, they are too cute! She is eating rice cakes and biter biscuits.. and when she eats something she likes she gets really excited and says "Mmmm!" Too cute :) Our little baby is growing up so fast, but its a lot of fun to watch! We are still working on crawling, but I have a feeling it will be coming sometime soon.

Simon and I are doing good! We are still training for the half marathon.. yes, we haven't given up yet! But we are up to 8 miles.. I would have never thought in a million years I would ever be running 8 miles, but it just shows.. anything is possible if you put your mind to it!! Simon is busy with his Chemistry and Physics class this quarter and I have just been trying to get in the swing of things with the twins after Simon went back to school after his 4 weeks break. The kids take three 45 minute naps during the day and are sleeping through the night, going to bed between 7:30 and 8:30 and sleeping until around 7:30. We are just really looking forward to March when we are able to have everyone visit our little miracles and take them places with us. Being able to take them out to dinner, to the zoo or just Babies R US sounds like so much fun! We can't wait!
