January was what seemed to be a very long month! I think it was hard getting use to Simon being back at school and getting back into our normal routine; however, February flew by!
Some big things have happened in these 2 months. 1) My oldest sister Olivia celebrated her 30th birthday on January 22nd. It was fun to be able to celebrate such a special birthday with her! And what better place to celebrate but the Wine Bistro and then to the Country Club for a drink! It was a fun night! 2) My fabulous husband, Simon was elected President of his entire Medical School! It was pretty easy for him to win because when people found out he was running, no one wanted to run against him! I guess he's just big man on campus :) Oh my little nerd.. I just love him!! Being President comes along with a lot of responsibility.. going on conferences to Washington DC, Chicago.. such a hard life! But on a serious note, Simon has to deal with all the issues that arise from his classmates, he has to plan and run next years orientation for the incoming medical students, he has to go to Washington DC to talk about and lobby for medical students, and this is just the tip of the ice-burg. It is a lot of work but Simon is enjoying every minute.. helping his fellow classmates! I keep saying I fell in love with a jock and am now married to a nerd! But I love it! My nerd is going to save the lives of many little Brynn's and Mia's one day! Other exciting news is... 3) Brynn is EATING! We have reduced his tube feedings a little bit and he is eating 1-1.5 cups of food daily. I have to puree everything in a blender, and he has to have his IPad or IPod to distract him, but he eats with no problem! We still have a long way to go, but we are on our way up! Brynn is also balancing a lot! He can stand on his own for almost 1 minute at a time. He is walking very well with push toys and is just ready for freedom! I know he will be walking by summer. Brynn has changed so much! I wake up to him saying "Hi, Mommy!" and him pointing to and naming everything in his crib.. Buzz, Woody, Animal, blankey :) It makes my day! He says the months of the year, days of the week, counts to 20, sings all types of songs, sorts things by color, puts together puzzles, has mastered the IPad and absolutely adores Mia! When I lay them down for a nap or when Brynn just wants to play all I hear is "Come on Mia!"
Mia is still our Pretty Little Princess! She loves dressing up in her princess dresses, wearing high-heels, jewelry and of course make-up. We have to do all the above before she can listen to music or watch Fresh Beat Band! Simon is getting worried however.. the boys are already in love with Mia. There was a little boy in her class named Jamie. I guess he talked about her at home and would follow her around during class saying "Hi Mia" and would hug her any chance he got. Then there is another little boy named Matthew. His mother told me that if he is crying and doesn't want to go to school, all she has to tell him is that, "Mia is going to be there," and he is ready to go! Such a sweet soul, however, Simon is still freaking out! Mia is still so sweet to Brynn and enjoys playing with him, but its not always Lolly Pops and Fairy Tales! They do have their moments :) It just amazes me what comes out of her mouth. She is more mature then I ever thought a soon to be 3 year old could be. I just ADORE her with my entire being!
We took the kids to Disney on Ice in the beginning of February. We weren't sure how they would do. We knew they were either going to LOVE it or they were going to DESPISE it. We were praying they would love it.. and they DID! We sat about 5 rows from the ice so they were able to see all the characters and after the 1st song, I looked at Mia and she gave Simon and I the thumb's up and told us, "I just love it," "The princesses are beautiful!" Brynn's bottom lip quivered a little bit and for a second I thought he was going to lose it, but then he saw, as he would say, "mickeydonaldplutominniedaisy", and loved the rest of the show. Now they can't wait for Disney World.. We are taking them in December 2012 YAY!
So as you can tell, life is good, real good! We are getting ready to leave for spring break next Saturday March 1oth. I am driving to Orlando with Marion and the kids. We are meeting Hamish in Orlando, where he as a conference. Simon is flying to Orlando March 14th, we are staying with his grandparents the 15th and 16th and then are going to Treasure Island for a week with Simon's parents. Then on Saturday March 24th, Simon, the kids and I are driving to Memphis for a conference that my Mr. President has to attend and then we will drive home Sunday night, and prepare to celebrate Brynn and Mia's 3rd Birthday on the 26th and Simon's 28th Birthday on the 27th! March is going to be a busy but FUN month! Thank you lord for all you have blessed me with!
