June and July 2012

At the beginning of June, Brynn and Mia sadly had to say good-bye to their pre-school. The Developmental Disability Schools are only for children under the age of 3. It was bitter sweet for us, because we were excited to be integrated into our school district, however we had such an amazing experience at Easter Seals.. it was hard to leave. The twins went though graduation which was the sweetest thing ever.. and of course I balled my eyes out! We still get to see Miss Jessi occasionally. She was the teacher's aid in Mia's class and she is our one babysitter that is not a family member! I know, Im crazy!!

THE POOL OPENED! As soon as the pool opened, the Fraser Family was a permanent fixture at the toddler pool. Simon and I were very hesitant about putting Brynn into the pool. He was not walking on his own, only taking a few steps and then falling, and refused to wear any type of floating device. We figured it was going to be a long summer having to hold his hand and walk with him throughout the pool. Boy, were we wrong!! I plopped Brynn into the water and he was off! Walking and hoping around as if he had been walking independently forever! All the other parents that have known Brynn, looked at him and started cheering. It was amazing. For the 1st time Brynn was in the pool splashing and playing around with kids, just like all the other toddlers! Mia also enjoyed being in the pool again. The first thing she did was put on her pink goggles (of course they were pink) and dove underwater. She is definitely our little fish, or as she would say Mermaid! :)

Mia started swimming lessons in the middle of June and did wonderful. They moved her up to the next level during the 2nd session. Mia is able to actually swim! She swims with her head under and above water. She can't go really far but she can go far enough! She enjoyed doing cannon balls into the pool, going under water and floating back up to the surface. She even taught herself how to do a summer-salt in the water! Mia even made sure to take care of Brynn in the water. She made sure he had toys and other kids weren't splashing or pushing him. She is a little protector (most of the time!) She just amazes us everyday!

Me, being an overprotective mom, I did not think Brynn would be able to handle swim lessons. I thought being in the water without me or Simon and having to follow directions from a life guard would be too difficult for him. However, after watching how much he enjoyed being in the water and watching as he would throw himself under water, I decided that I would sign Brynn up for the last swim session and if it did not work out, then I would just stop sending him. Man or Man, once again I was WRONG! Brynn loved swim lessons! He listened and did what the instructure asked of him and he was one of the only children that actually participated!! When other children were fighting their moms to not get into pool, Brynn was already blowing bubbles with Miss Taylor!

Schools out for SUMMER! Simon had June and July off for summer break. It was great! We were a cute, little family of 4 once again. We would workout in the morning while Brynn and Mia went to the play area at the gym, which they love. Then we would take the kids to swim lessons, stay at the pool and swim, go home and have quite time and then usually head back to the pool in the evening. It was so nice to not have to worry about schedules and just focus on family. We hit the REFRESH button, which was much needed.

Exciting news for July... BRYNN IS WALKING INDEPENDENTLY!!! No walker, no holding hands, just Brynn and his walking legs! I smile just thinking how far he has come!

Exciting news for Mia.. She had her 1st Dentist appointment. Daddy took her and he said she was such a brave girl! And her teeth look perfect!
