At the end of July and beginning of August, Simon had a few weeks off that we were not anticipating. Knowing that his whole family was going to be in Germany, we thought it would be a good idea to hop on a plane and surprise them. Of course Hamish and Marion knew, they helped organize our tickets, but Ingrid, Robert and Kirsten had no idea we were coming. It brings tears to my eyes the reaction that Ingrid had when she saw us. We had not seen her in a long time and she was really missing Brynn and Mia. When she walked around the corner and saw us, she screamed "NO!" and tears starting running down her face. That moment was worth the 9 hour layover in New York City the plan change in London.. and me arguing that I was unable to open up all of Brynn's formula containers! Kirsten and Robert were shocked and just excited to see us as well! While in Germany we were able to have the whole Fraser Family together and it was nice to relax and just enjoy time together. We were also able to attend Simon's cousin Dirk's wedding and the christening of he and Melanie's little girl Mira. After a relaxing 2 weeks we were back in the states and Simon was in Athens starting school and the twins were getting ready to start preschool in Upper Arlington, Ohio!
We enjoyed the rest of our summer swimming at the pool and hangout with friends. We had a WONDERFUL summer! Simon enjoyed starting school as a 2nd year Med Student. He felt like he knew what to expect and knew what was expected of him. Brynn and Mia were excited to start school but a little anxious because they were starting at a new school with all new kids. Brynn was lucky enough to have Mrs. Debbie as his teacher. Debbie is a mother of one of our friends and we spent time getting to know her more this summer at the pool. Brynn adjusted very well to his preschool class. He made friends quickly and looks forward to going each morning. Brynn is in the special needs preschool so he goes Monday-Friday. Lastly, Brynn had one last surgery at the end of September. The surgery was called "Hardware Removal," seriously! He had to have the metal plates taken out that where put in, to hold his femurs together, after his hip surgeries. They went in the same incision site, it took about an hour, and he did wonderful as usual! His recovery was short and easy :) He is definitely our little trooper! God bless him!
Mia also adjusted going to her preschool class. It took her a little longer to get use to her teachers and the kids in her class, but after a few weeks she was good to go! She has made some really good friends and has fallen in love with her three teachers. She is in a class that ranges in age from 3-5, so she is enjoying being exposed to kids of different ages and skill levels! Mia goes to preschool Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00-1:00. She loves being able to eat lunch with her friends!
