Wow! What a fun month! December happens to be one of our favorite months because we love Christmas so much. Simon did a wonderful job decorating the outside of our house. He had Christmas lights line the outside of the house and added another inflatable to our collection. We now have a Mickey Mouse and a Teddy Bear. I have the fear that we might be the CRAZY house on the block in the next few years! It was really neat seeing that Brynn and Mia actually understood a little bit about Christmas this year. They enjoyed putting up the Christmas tree and decorating around the house. We had a wonderful time baking cookies and shopping for "toys for tots". We realized that we went completely overboard with presents last year and wanted to focus more on the meaning of Christmas then the receiving of presents. And to our surprise, they enjoyed Christmas just as much with fewer gifts! Our idea next year is to adopt a family and allow Brynn in Mia to shop for another family and let them see the joy of giving!
We had a wonderful Christmas Eve with Simon's family. We ate fondu, which is their tradition, and I absolutely love it! I start looking forward to next year at the end of my meal :) We then had Christmas morning at our house with Simon, I and the twins, and my family came over in the afternoon to spend time with us. It was such a wonderful, relaxing day and we had something to be very excited for... we had a 7:30 am flight booked to wisk us away to Tullum, Mexico for the next 10 days :)
Now I knew we needed some quality family time, but I had no idea how wonderful it was going to be! My mom, Garth, Liv, Jason and Chelsea accompanied us on our trip and we had a blast. We had great flights and Brynn and Mia did wonderful! We would wake up, eat breakfast, swim in the pool, play at the beach and in the ocean, having relaxing time on the lounge chairs - this consisted of Brynn and Mia playing on their IPads and the grownups having a happy hour! We would then shower, eat dinner and see where the night took us. We had the same routine everyday and it was great! Simon and I were able to have some "couple" time (as we have forgotten what this is) taking walks on the beach or eating lunch together just he and I. The Kids enjoyed waking up to Papa every morning (their name for Simon), and just being with him on a daily basis. God truly allowed us to rejevunate every part of our being and I am so grateful for that!
