November 2014

November was a wirl-wind and out first month as a family of 5! My delivery was harder then expected with some complications, which made my recovery that much more difficult. The hardest part for me was not being able to get out of bed for 2 weeks, but thank goodness for family! Everyone stepped in to help get Brynn and Mia ready, to and from school and helped them do homework, eat dinner and ready for bed. Simon then had a week off, so he turned in the Mr. dad and mom! I am so grateful for all the help we received!

Brynn and Mia enjoyed getting to know Miss London, however, they didn't expect her to sleep so much :) London was an amazing nurser and sleeper! At times she would sleep 5+ hours in the night. I guess that is one perk of having a big baby!! Brynn and Mia adjusted so well to having a baby sister! There was not 1 ounce of jealousy. Not even once. They purely were just in awe at how amazing she was. Wow! I have some wonderful little kids!! Mia loves to be a little mommy and has been extremely helpful! Brynn also likes helping out with his new sister!

We also celebrated Thanksgiving and my 30th birthday (which fell on Thanksgiving). We had a little scared with me bleeding, which landed me in the hospital in the middle of the night- no exactly where I wanted to begin my 30's!! But after a few hours we were discharged and sent home to try and get a little sleep :)

London Rainer Fraser

Its a GIRL!! My entire pregnancy, I sore I was having a girl and I was right :) Welcome to the World London Rainer Fraser! Born Friday, November 7, 2014 at 1:02am. She weighed 8lbs 12oz and was 19inches long!

It all started on Monday November 3, 2014. Garth and I took Brynn to see an alternative doctor in Cleveland Ohio. I was feeling okay, I was large and swollen with contractions here and there but nothing was regular, so I decided it was okay for me to make the trip to Cleveland. The day was very long-- we had to wait awhile to see the doctor, and as the day progressed, I started to feel icky and mild contractions started to come. On the drive home I was contracting a lot and looked at Garth and told him he better start timing them! Driving in the middle of no where, all I wanted to see was the sign for route 315 because when I saw that, I knew I was home! As we timed my contractions they were coming speratically. 3 mintutes apart then 9 minutes apart then 2 mintues then 10 minutes apart! We finally made it home, I thought it might be go time, and then they stopped. Ugh-- false alarm! Then Tuesday passed, Wednesday passed and nothing! I had a doctors appointment on Thursday, so I was hoping I would get some news on when I would be able to meet this precious little angel that has been growing inside of me for the past almost 10 months :)

On Thursday at my appointment my doctor examined me and he held up 4 fingers with a big smile on his face! By this time, I was so swollen, he knew my body was ready to have this baby! I was 4 cm dialated!! Thank you contractions on Monday, I was finally on my way to having this baby!! My doctor said he was pretty sure that I would deliver sometime that weekend and he was on call so it was perfect timing! However, if for some reason I did not go into labor he was going to induce me slowly on Tuesday. At the beginning of my visit, my blood pressure was a little elevated, so they made me lay on my left side and rechecked me before I was allowed to leave. When they checked me, my blood pressure was back to normal so I was given the okay to leave!

Excited knowing I was going to meet my little bundle of joy soon, I went home and started to get things done around the house just in case I would go into labor. As I did some picking up around the house, I started having back pain. I decided it was time for me to sit down and relax before I had to pick Brynn up from school. After picking Brynn up, my back was still hurting. I had back labor with the twins and knew that was what I was having. It started off mild and within 30 minutes it was coming more frequently and the pain was increasing. I decided it was time to call my doctors office at 3:30pm. The nurse told me that if the pain progressed to head to Labor and Delivery because if I am dialted and I was just examined, it is very common to go into labor and progress very fast. I told her that the pain was consistant and she suggested that I head in!

We had a plan set in place. Simon was working at Riverside Methodist Hospital at the time, so I called him and told him I would let him know when I arrived. Simon was a little in denial because all he wanted was for me to wait to have the baby until Sunday November 9th. Simon had his interview for residency at Doctors Hospital Friday and Saturday the 7th and 8th!! My mom was with Brynn, Mia was with Marion visiting Omi Rita and Opa Jim in Dayton, and I called Garth to drive me to the hospital. After Garth got out of a meeting telling them that his daugther was in labor! He drove me to meet Simon at the hospital! I met up with Simon and we took the elevator up to Labor and Delivery. At this time I was a little uncomfortable but by no means did I look like I was in labor :) I checked in, telling them that I was just examined, 4cm dilated and having back pain. Simon and I were put into a room and explained my symptoms to the nurse. They checked my blood pressure and it was really high. 158/104. I told them that was not normal for me, so they rechecked it. It was still really high and then they looked at my feet and legs and saw how swollen I was. I then told them I started seeing twinkles in my eyes and my BP was not decreasing so they gave admitted me and gave me some meds. After calling and checking in with my doctor, it was decided since I was 38 weeks and 5 days and showing all the signs of pregnancy induced hypertension, I was not going to leave the hospital without a baby in my arms!! Praise the Lord! We were finally going to meet our sweet, little baby!

After being admitted I got my epidural (which only took on my stomach-- no where else, ouch!) and they broke my water at 7pm. Baby Fraser did not like the epidural and her heart rate dropped into the 70s. Everyone was running around preparing me for an emergency c-section if her heart rate did not come up. Thank the Lord, after me breathing in a few deep breaths of oxygen her heart rate went back to normal! Then we had to worry about my BP again :( I had to be put on Magnesium, which is such a nasty drug :( It was to make sure if I continued to have high blood pressure that I would not have a stroke. The nurse told me that most people feel like they have the flu, I luckily did not have that feeling, it just made me feel out of it and the rest of my delivery is blurry with big chunks of time that I do not remember due to the magnesium.

After getting the Magnesium, they gave me pitocin to get my body ready to push out a baby! They ended up increasing the potocine a little bit around 11pm and within an hour I was yelling at Simon to get the nurse because I knew I had to start pushing! I went from 5cm to 10cm in 1 hour!!

My doctor arrived and I pushed roughly for 1 hour.  London's heart rate was not going up or down, it was just staying the same and her shoulder was stuck on my pelvic bone. My doctor did not want to risk anything happening so he decided to use suction to get her out!  At 1:02 am I heard a beautiful sound, a crying baby!! And the words "Its a girl!" Emotions rushed through me. This experience was so different then the twins. One second I laying in a bed with a big, pregnant belly and the next second I am holding my sweet baby girl in my arms! I held London for 2.5 hours straight. We enjoyed skin to skin and I got to nurse her for the first time. A lot of my memory is blurry because of the magnesium but these precious moments, the ones that count, I will hold close to my heart forever! This is what it feels like having a full term baby-- I got to enjoy that over whelming feeling of being a mommy and was able to embrace my baby for hours. For that I will be forever grateful. Thank you God for allowing me to have this experience. Something I have always wanted and prayed for. God is Good!!

I don't know how Simon did it, but he did! He was with London and I the whole time and went from snuggling his newborn baby girl to a full day of interviews! He came back to the hospital spent the night with us and had another full day of interviews on Saturday!!

Sunday November 9th, we took London home to start living our new life of a family of 5!!
