The Kids are 2 months old!!!

Here are the pictures of Mia's first bottle!!

Here is dad trying to burp Mia... he has a hard time
patting her because he doesn't want to hurt her.

Mia loves sitting up!

UMMM... milk does taste good.

This is Brynn in his first outfit. I think he is telling
us he doesn't like rhinos.

Here is dad holding Brynn for the VERY FIRST TIME!!

Mia sporting a beautiful summer dress while lounging
in the isolette.

Now that Mia is getting older she loves sucking on
her Binky. She is now our version of Maggie Simpson!!

Here is mom holding Brynn... She has the touch!!
He always behaves for mom and loves being in her
arms!!

Mia loves rocking out to dads Ipod... especially
when Coldplay is on!!

Our beautiful Princess... just posing for the camera.

So now the kids are two months old. It is amazing to see them now and compare them to the photos we have of them from two months ago. Mia is now 5 pounds 15 ounces and Brynn is 3 pounds 12 1/2 ounces. Both kids had their first immunizations and handled them well. Mia is now taking a bottle more frequently and hopefully she will continue to make progress so we can bring her home. Brynn is a much happier baby being on CPAP and has made awesome progress... hopefully within four weeks we can get him off CPAP and start giving him the bottle so we can get him home!!! Mal is doing great and is awaiting taking over for the nurses and doing all of the feedings and diaper changes (with help from dad) while Simon has decided to retire from football and make a run at getting into med school!! Classes begin this summer!!

We hope people understand the delays between blogs considering we are spending most of our time in the hospital. Please understand that everyone is riding Simon to keep it updated and he is going to do his best!!

Thanks for all the love, support, and prayers!!!!

Brynns Big Day

Thursday May 14, 2009 was a big step forward for Brynn. He was taken off the ventilator and put on the CPAP machine. Dr. Reber told us on Tuesday that because Brynn had so many spells (like 2,ooo a day) she was going to change his breathing tub.. thinking that there was mucus surrounding the end of the tube, causing Brynn to not get the amount of air that he needed.  She said that she would be "Daring" and try Brynn on CPAP; even though, most doctors would NEVER try Brynn on CPAP at that point because his oxygen and pressure requirements were way too high.  But like everything else Brynn has done he has shocked the world and proven all the doctors wrong! As of now he is still off of the ventilator and has only 2 to 5 spells a day.  The doctors keep telling us.. he is a Medical Miracle!

Not to be out done by her big brother.. Thursday May 14, 2009 was also a HUGE day for Mia. She took to a bottle for the first time.  The nurse told us that she would like to see Mia finish the bottle in 25 minutes but it took Miss Mia 45 minutes because she kept falling asleep!  Sorry there are no pictures for Mia.. the camera was left at home.. but we will post pictures from the next bottle feeding.

These kids are growing so fast and we are so excited to get them home soon.

Here are some pictures from Brynns big day:

Here we are standing with Dr. Cordero About an
hour after Brynn was put on CPAP.

Just checking out the world without a tube down
his throat. What a feeling!!

"Breathing on my own is awesome!"

Brynn is just showing off for the camera. Breathing
and sucking his binky all by himself.

Brynn and Mia are back together

Its like they were never apart! This is the best sight
to see in the whole wide world. One hospital, two babies,
PRICELESS!!

Mama giving hand containment to big man Brynn.
The nurses say this helps Brynn while they do their care
on him. Mal loves calming him down.

For Brynn we have to use night vision so we don't
disturb him while he sleeps in his dark cave.
Here he is snuggled and cuddling his Binky.

Typical Brynn... passed out sleeping!! What a life..
soon enough he will be complaining about going to bed.

Looks like someone is putting on some weight!!
Good boy!

Brynn loves his Binky!! and being snuggled under
covers!

Miss Mia also loves her Binky. Except she also likes
being a busy body and seeing what's going on around her.

Bath time with Miss Mia.. She loves looking good!

It's too early for the camera!! gotta get my make-up on!...

Now I'm all ready for the camera dad!!

I am the prettiest girl in the NICU!!!

So this week has been so much better for us. Now we can focus on both of our kids in the same hospital and spend more time by their beds instead of driving between hospitals. Mia has become the big girl in the NICU. She weighs 3 pounds 14 ounces and needs no respiratory help. She is eating 30ml of food every 3 hours and is just sleeping, growing, and sometimes pooping (Miss Mia doesn't like dirty diapers so she thinks holding her poop in is better for her.. until she can't hold it any longer and has a day of massive blow outs all over her cloths, blankets, and isolette). Brynn is getting better slowly but surly. He is still on the ventilator but the doctors hope to get him off of it by the end of the month. Brynn is growing and getting stronger every day. He is up to 2 pounds 8 ounces and he is eating 21ml of food every 3 hours. And unlike his sister he has no problems blowing up his isolette.

Mal and I are now into a great routine of getting up eating breakfast, going to the hospital, running errands, eating (as healthy as we can), and back to the hospital. Mal saw her doctor the other day and was given clearance to start working out and getting back into the swing of things. Simon was let go by the falcons the other day, but knew it was coming. He is happy to have the time to be here with the kids instead of having to focus on going back and forth between the two cities. He is unsure what is next for him but as long as he has the kiddos and Mal by his side he will be happy doing anything!

Thanks for all the love and prayers we have received!!!
